Over 2 Months Now

Just over 2 months here with Arvixe and all is going great. I have had very few issues where I had to contact support, and it was only when I first migrated to Arvixe. Very fast responses and the issues were corrected and a more than reasonable speed. All in all, at this point, I am very pleased with the service I have received from Arvixe. If you are looking for a web hosting provider, I recommend Arvixe!

Domain Ads

So, you may notice seemingly conflicted ads on this and other pages of mine. Arvixe and GoDaddy…so why did I do it? Well, to put it simply….Arvixe is the hosting company of choice, but through GoDaddy, you can get your domain name really cheap (for the most part). as at the time I am writing this, you can get your domain name through GoDaddy for $1.87 (after the 18 cent ICANN fee). So, you buy the name through GoDaddy (after clicking on the GoDaddy ad link 🙂 ) and then buy your hosting through Arvixe (again, after clicking on the banner 🙂 ). Then, when it comes time to renew, transfer the domain name to Arvixe for $7.95, and from there on out, it will be free as long as you stay on with Arvixe as a hosting provider and that is your main domain. All renewals through Arvixie are $7.95.

EDIT: So what I am saying is if you have several domains you wish to have, get them for $1.87 versus $10 or more…quite the best way to do it. 🙂

New Webhost – Arvixe

So, after just under a year, I am changing web hosting providers. GoDaddy was ok, but I had a small issue with them…I bought one of their SSL certificates and found it to be quite a disappointment. The price was good…$4.00 a year, but the issue was that being SSL I should have had a “secure” site, but I couldn’t even get the “lock” icon to show in the browser. I did have a dedicated IP address, though. But GoDaddy refused to allow me to use my own SSL certificate, soooo after having a discussion with A QA guy at Arvixe, I decided to give them a try. So, here I am! (Which, of course, is why you see the Arvixe banners on the website.)

GoDaddy Web Hosting

GoDaddy is kind of new to me…I had started my first domain/website June of 2005 as there was a need for the phpBB modification “helper” for the Attachment MOD for the 2.0 series of their forum software. The author was involved in more than just the attachment MOD, so support for it’s installation and updates for the newer phpBB were not always up to speed, so I did step up to help and created my own support forum just for that, and it worked for a few months. The problem was me moving to the midnight shift and the oncoming of phpBB 3.0 which has the Attachment MOD built in…anyway, I had found the site www.afmu.com and signed up and bought the tuxrules.com domain. All went well for the first 5 and a half years (well, June of 05 til Dec of 11), in which afmu.com had their WHMCS billing software compromised, and by May of 2012, they still had not recovered, and have now been bought by someone else, www.arvixe.com. So, I went on the hunt for another hosting company and found GoDaddy.com. So far, the prices and features have been comparable, and the price for domain purchase and renewal are a bit less. I am believing that this is a good company as another forum I visit uses them and they have had excellent uptime, especially considering the size of the forum. So, in short, if you are looking for your own hosting service, click on a GoDaddy banner ad…I believe you will not be disappointed!
